Charleston, SC, Feb. 18, 2021 — The Alliance for Innovation and Infrastructure (Aii), today, joins the American Flood Coalition, in order to advance both organizations’ missions of promoting resilient infrastructure.

Aii is a national research and educational nonprofit seeking to advance infrastructure safety nationwide. The American Flood Coalition is a nonpartisan group of political, military, business, and local leaders that have come together to drive adaptation to the reality of higher seas, stronger storms, and more frequent flooding.

A national organization, Aii is headquartered in the Washington, D.C area. With personnel across the country, the Charleston-based team for Aii maintains a a significant presence in South Carolina.

Aii joins the coalition alongside 36 members from the state of South Carolina. These members include individuals such as Henry McMaster, Nancy Mace, Joe Cunningham, and multiple cities in the Charleston area.

When McMaster joined the American Flood Coalition, he expressed the importance of the organization by stating, “from changes to local zoning laws to infrastructure projects at the state and federal levels, we must work together to protect South Carolina and our citizens.”

Through our current and previous work, Aii remains committed to resilient infrastructure and innovative practices to improve safety particularly in coastal and flood-prone areas.

“The future infrastructure challenges we are facing are bigger than any single organization can tackle on its own,” said Benjamin Dierker, Aii’s Director of Public Policy. “Coalitions like this are essential for combining resources and collaborating to ensure our most innovative solutions rise to the top.”
